Film Selection Criteria

tilde: Melbourne Trans & Gender Diverse Film Festival is seeking submissions for their third international festival in October 2017.  tilde was founded in 2014 to showcase the work of trans and gender diverse filmmakers as well as films containing trans and gender diverse content and characters.

• tilde believes stories have the power to heal, connect, agitate and educate. Stories from and about trans and gender diverse people have historically been marginalised, silenced or distorted.  tilde envisions more positive and authentic representations of gender diversity, and more dialogue and sharing of stories between and across communities both local and global.

• tilde is seeking short and feature length entries of all genres from across the globe. Films will be selected in line with our values. tilde highlights the stories and perspectives of trans and gd communities and promotes the work of both local and international trans and gd filmmakers, challenging gender norms and binary and celebrating diverse representation of gender. Closing date for entries is 3O June 2017.

• tilde is an entirely volunteer run organisation. Its members identify across a wide range of genders and are made up of community workers, activists, artists, writers, film geeks and academics. tilde is not for profit and aims to work collaboratively with others in the trans, queer and allied organisations and communities.

• tilde festival will be held at the Footscray Community Arts Centre from 26–29 October 2017.
